![]() Don’t signal to your partner, even if you suspect they don’t know protocol. If you find yourself in a node with a fellow hacker, consider which hacker has protocol before node maintenance begins. It is very important, especially at a high level, to know protocol, as not knowing protocol can lead to double hacks or double secures. Once you understand and memorize these three rules, there is no confusion on your part about protocol and it improves both your agent and hacker play. Any other protocol you’re told that deviates from this rule set is non-meta. These are the three general hacker protocol rules followed by players in Mindnight. Rule 3: If the proposer is an agent, and there are two or more hackers in the node who have either not hacked before or who both hacked last, the hacker closest counter-clockwise to the proposer hacks. Rule 2: If the proposer is an agent, and there are two or more hackers in the node, the hacker who hacked last hacks. Rule 1: The hacker who proposes the node hacks. There is a sound logic behind protocol that applies to every possible scenario. Note that Rule 1 supersedes Rule 2 and Rule 3, while Rule 2 supersedes Rule 3. Although other threads describe protocol, I figure having another guide is good for the game at this time, seeing as it’s free-to-play and has many new players currently. It’s only here for players who don’t know protocol to reference so they can memorize it. This thread is not meant to be an extensive account of protocol. I see a lot of players who don’t know protocol, so I figured I’d make a simple thread to describe the three hacker protocol rules.
